It is defined by leadership, dynamics and culture.

Join us for an inspiring session on Leadership and Culture in the Boardroom, where we will explore:

    • The role of leadership in modern boards and executive teams
    • How culture and diversity impact decision-making and performance
    • The balance between support and challenge
    • Trust, dynamics and collaboration in the boardroom
    • What separates high-performing boards from the rest
    • How succession planning increases the rate for success.

An opportunity to gain new perspectives, exchange experiences and discuss the future demands on board leadership.

Leadership and culture in the boardroom

A joint event organised by EY, Board Room+ and Selection F

Strong boards are not created solely by having the right skills around the table. They are created through leadership, trust, culture and the ability to challenge and support one another in the right way.

At this event, we will focus on how leadership and culture contribute to better decisions, stronger collaboration and increased value creation – both in the executive board and in the boardroom.

Morten Østergaard Koch, Partner and member of EY’s Danish management team, will share his experiences of inclusive leadership and demonstrate how conscious leadership can enhance the quality of decisions, foster greater fairness and transparency, and boost organisations’ performance, innovation and resilience.

Ole Mølskov Bech, former Senior Vice President at Novo Nordisk, offers a unique insight into the development of The Novo Nordisk Way and the culture that has been a key driving force behind the company’s success. Drawing on an international leadership career spanning research, production, commercial functions and People & Organisation, Ole shares his experiences of fostering engagement, cohesion and high performance – even during periods of very rapid growth.

Peter Agergaard, Group Head of Board Services at Birn + Partners and former international HR director, specialises in the development of boards and senior management. He focuses on what characterises the most effective boards, how trust, constructive

Strategic foresight is becoming a defining capability of high-performing boards and executive teams. In this keynote, Antti-Jussi Tahvanainen shows how foresight helps leadership move beyond short-term risk oversight toward long-term opportunity creation, resilience, and strategic renewal. Drawing on concrete cases, the session demonstrates how organizations can build future-proof technology strategies, identify breakthrough innovation opportunities, explore new growth spaces, and support major investment decisions under uncertainty. Participants will gain a practical perspective on how weak signals, long-term scenarios, and structured future-oriented methods can sharpen strategic focus and strengthen the board’s role as a shaper of long-term value. The central message is clear: strategic foresight is not an add-on to governance, but a capability that helps secure relevance, legitimacy, and competitive advantage in a world shaped by disruption.

    Dr. Antti-Jussi Tahvanainen

As Head of Strategic Foresight, Antti-Jussi leads VTT’s Strategic Foresight unit, a 12 expert team that helps companies detect disruptive signals, evaluate bets across technology, markets, policy, sustainability, and society, building resilient growth strategies when stakes are high and time horizons stretch to 2030–2050. As long time faculty in Aalto EE’s MBA/EMBA foresight modules, he translates complex foresight into practical methods leaders can apply immediately.

Over two decades, Antti Jussi has worked at the intersection of technology, markets and policy. At the Finnish Forest Industries Federation, he advanced RDI and industrial policy at EU and national levels, giving companies a vantage point on how regulation, sustainability and technology co evolve—and how to position ahead of the curve. Earlier at ETLA, he directed multinational, cross disciplinary programs, securing multimillion euro funding while leading large expert teams on the topics of competitiveness and technology-driven business. He has also served as a Research Scholar at Stanford University’s Center for Design Research, contributing to research on radical innovation practices that inform corporate foresight today.

His clients’ outcomes include (1) 2050 horizon technology strategies that anticipate shocks from sustainability, regulation and science; (2) breakthrough materials, processes and product technologies that reset cost/performance frontiers; (3) “New Defense” entry paths for dual use value chains; (4) post conflict, cross border investment theses to de risk capital deployment; (5) data and digital infrastructure monetization via platform, service and ecosystem plays; and (6) user centric mobility offerings aligned with evolving urban lifestyles for the 2040s.

Antti Jussi is co author of the widely used Playbook for Strategic Foresight & Innovation and co editor of VTT’s Guidebook for Organising Corporate Foresight, a practical manual for embedding foresight into decision making. He also writes on how foresight strengthens value creation in the C suite and boards. His expert views have been featured in sector and policy forums as well as mainstream media.

Why your unique way of thinking is a strategic asset in executive management and the boardroom

When it comes to diversity in executive management and the boardroom, the evidence is clear: diverse leadership teams make better decisions, challenge blind spots and strengthen business performance.

Yet too many leadership teams still lack one of the most important forms of diversity: cognitive diversity - the different ways people think, solve problems, spot risks and create opportunities.

This interactive workshop will help you understand why your unique way of thinking is not just valuable, but a strategic asset. You will gain fresh, powerful arguments that move the diversity conversation beyond traditional gender-based perspectives and into the boardroom’s core agenda: better decisions, stronger governance and future-ready businesses.

Combining Matthew Syed’s team of clones model with the Creative ID™ psychometric tool, the workshop explores:

    • What cognitive diversity is, what it looks like in practice, and why it matters
    • How creative intelligence brings cognitive diversity to life and makes it actionable
    • Why cognitive diversity is essential in executive management and the boardroom
    • How different thinking styles can strengthen decision-making, innovation and business resilience

The workshop is hosted by Hanne Kristiansen, Creative ID™, and Astrid Jørgensen, consultant and board professional.

    Bio – Hanne Kristiansen

Hanne Kristiansen is a people-obsessed corporate innovator who is on a mission to make the world of work a more human, agile and inclusive place to be. We are pleased to welcome Astrid Jørgensen back to both Copenhagen and Aarhus for a practical and inspiring session on strategic networking:

    Copenhagen: 28th of October

    Aarhus: 29th of October

Many board roles are shaped through networks not only through formal applications or searches. Strategic networking is therefore about building meaningful, two-way relationships that can open doors to opportunities, collaborations, and the hidden market where many board roles take form.

In this session, we will work on shifting the mindset from networking as something uncomfortable or random to networking as something strategic, authentic, and deeply purposeful. Together, we will explore how to:

    • Clarify the match between your profile and your ambitions
    • Define a strong personal value proposition
    • Map the network you need to activate — not just expand
    • Prepare, pitch, and follow up on networking opportunities that matter
    • Build an action plan that can go straight into your calendar

Astrid Jørgensen is a strategic advisor and board professional with deep expertise in subscription business models, digital transformation, and strategic growth. She has 17 years of leadership experience from major Scandinavian media groups and now advises organizations on recurring revenue, digital development, and the role of strong networks in creating new opportunities.

When the Takeover Call Comes, Will You Be Ready?

Boardroom dynamics change fast when a takeover attempt is on the table. Governance and strategy collide — and every decision carries consequences for the company's future. What should you do if shareholders push for a deal you're not sure about? When confidential information starts leaking at the worst moment? How do you efficiently work with advisors and other stakeholders?

The dilemmas that arise in a takeover process are rarely black or white, and they put the board's fiduciary duties to the test.

At our upcoming SelectionF event, Andreas Dalhäll from EY joins Sofie Bjärtun and Linnéa Dolk from Vinge for an honest, behind-closed-doors conversation about responsibility, risk, and what it really takes to navigate the line of fire. Don't miss it.

Linnéa and Sofie are partners in Vinge’s Capital Markets and Public M&A team. They both regularly advise boards and offerors in connection with public takeovers. Sofie is also a member of the Swedish Securities Council (Aktiemarknadsnämnden) which issues rulings within the takeover field. Andreas is a partner at EY and has been working with capital markets transactions since he joined the firm, in 2007.
